Plans are being formulated by the Northampton Country club to enlarge their extensive grounds at Leeds to 55 acres adding 12 acres recently purchased for the club by two of the members, E. H. Bannister and W. A. Clark, from a neighboring farm. Donald Ross, of the Essex county Country club of Manchester-by-the-sea was in this city Monday and was taken over the Leeds club course by a committee from the club with, a view to relaying the golf greens and general plan and direction of the drivers. Mr. Ross is a golf expert of some prominence and has just completed a contract with the Holyoke Golf club for their new $50,000 links and grounds. It is planned to turn the direction of the links completely around so as to include the recently acquired land which will make, when completed, one of the best links in the state. The land has been surveyed and Mr. Ross took a plan of the grounds with him from which a model course plan will be drawn. The managers of the club intend to start in immediately on the new land but the present links will not be touched until the end of the season.
